Favorite “Green-ish” Colors from Sherwin Williams

Versatile "Green-ish" Sherwin Williams Paint Colors

For those of you who follow us on Instagram, you may have seen stories and posts where I talk about “ish” colors. Some designers also refer to these as “muddy” colors. I like to think of “ish” colors as versatile colors that can appear to be more than 1 color depending on the light. If a color leaves you asking something like “Wait, is this green or is it gray?” Then you probably stumbled upon an “ish” color. Some of my favorite “ish” colors are considered green-ish and have become an increasingly popular option for homeowners and designers alike. Sherwin Williams offers several shades that straddle the line between color and neutral, perfect for creating serene environments. Here, we’ll explore four of my favorite engaging hues: Illusive Green, Rushing River, Anonymous, and At Ease Soldier.

Illusive Green

Illusive Green (SW 7637) is a sophisticated green with a hint of gray. This muted hue provides a calming backdrop for modern and traditional interiors alike. Its subtle warmth allows it to blend seamlessly with a variety of accent colors, making it an excellent choice for living rooms, kitchens, or bedrooms. Pair it with crisp whites for a fresh look or with deeper earthy tones to embrace a more organic feel.

Rushing River

Rushing River (SW 6206) brings to mind serene waters with its soft, muted blue-green tone. This color is particularly versatile, as it works beautifully in spaces that aim for a relaxed atmosphere. It can evoke a coastal vibe when paired with whites and soft beiges, or it can add depth and richness when set against darker wood tones. Use this shade in bathrooms or bedrooms to create a tranquil oasis.

Anonymous

For those leaning towards a bit more gray in their green palette, Anonymous (SW 7046) is an excellent choice. This sophisticated shade balances between being cool and warm, offering versatility across various design styles. Its understated elegance works well in minimalistic settings, while also being adaptable to bolder styles with vibrant accents. Use it as the primary color in an open concept space, or as an accent wall to create visual interest without overwhelming the area.

At Ease Soldier

At Ease Soldier (SW 6171) adds a touch of earthy sophistication to any room. This muted shade incorporates elements of green and brown, giving it a rich, organic quality that resonates well with nature-inspired decor. It is perfect for dining rooms or studies where a grounding and contemplative atmosphere is desired. Pair At Ease Soldier with cream or soft ivory tones for an inviting, homey feel, or with darker shades for dramatic contrast.

Conclusion

The versatility of these green-ish hues from Sherwin Williams allows them to function as both colors and neutrals, making them ideal selections for a variety of spaces (one of my favorite places to paint with “ish” colors are on cabinets). By integrating shades like Illusive Green, Rushing River, Anonymous, and At Ease Soldier, you can create a harmonious flow throughout your home that supports a calming and stylish environment. When choosing among these options, consider the natural light and existing furnishings to ensure your selected shade enhances your intended atmosphere. Embrace the beauty of nature with these elegant green tones and transform your spaces into serene sanctuaries!
