The Benefits of Working with Friends in the Design Industry

You may have recently seen my Instagram story about working with Becca. I wanted to show how grateful I am to work with someone who is not only a great business partner, but a great friend as well. Becca and I have known each other for almost 20 years! It got me thinking about the benefits of working with friends in the design industry. Working with friends can be not only enjoyable but also highly beneficial. Here are some reasons why collaborating with friends can lead to great results in our field:

1. Shared Vision and Communication

When working with friends, there is often a shared vision and understanding that can enhance communication. Friends who know each other well can anticipate preferences and work together seamlessly to bring a design project to life.

2. Trust and Collaboration

Friendships are built on trust, which is a key component of successful collaborations. Working with friends can create a safe space for bouncing off ideas, giving and receiving feedback, and collaborating effectively.

3. Creativity Boost

Being around friends can spark creativity and inspire fresh ideas. Brainstorming together can lead to innovative design solutions that may not have been possible otherwise.

4. Support and Encouragement

Friendships provide a support system that is invaluable in our industry where projects can be demanding and stressful. Working with friends means having a built-in support network that can offer encouragement during challenging times.

5. Fun and Enjoyment

Perhaps the most obvious benefit of working with friends is the fun and enjoyment that come with it! Celebrating successes, sharing inside jokes, and simply enjoying each other's company can make work feel less like a chore and more like a rewarding experience.

I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to work with Becca and other friends I’ve made in this industry. I hope the joy I feel daily with what I do for a living translates to the work I do for my wonderful customers!
